It has been too long since I have had a Doll Giveaway.
I promised one ages ago, and life got in the way, as life tends to do. The doll was ready, but when I say 'ready,' it means there was a doll. She did not have hair, she did not have clothes, or shoes, or rosey cheeks. And this little doll sat there, watching other dolls get groomed and ready to go home, and every time I looked at her I felt sad for her, but I had more pressing matters and could not spend quality time with her, and do I kept telling her to be patient.
Then, one day, when my studio was buzzing with activity, and the sewing machines were making their lovely buzzing noises, dresses were swirling on hangers, and I was tired beyond belief, and because I really did not have time and was working crazy to meet deadlines, it became obvious this is just the perfect time to add one more doll to the roller coaster.
Miss Mimi was thrilled beyond belief.
She danced and giggled and tried on her shoes and every dress she could put her hands on.
Her enthusiasm was a little too much for some of the other dolls. Look:
Henrietta was begging me to find her a home already, or do something, to make Miss Mimi calm down.
So I made Miss Mimi a dress.
She seemed to like it, but she said she needs something more..something else...something different..
And she went to the ironing board, where lots of new clothes were waiting to be ironed, and pulled out a vest I made for another doll.
That's it. She said, and ran away wearing her new vest, away and up, above the cabinet where the other dolls sit.
And that was that.
Now, Miss Mimi is unbearably excited about finding a child to call her own. She talks about having a family, a dog, a cat, maybe even a bunny..she wants her child so much, that she gives us all terrible headaches.
So really, it is a matter of urgency. We must have a raffle and find Miss Mimi's family A.S.A.P, or the rest of my dolls will leave the studio and run out into the streets, for some peace and quiet.
And we simply cannot have this.
